As ‘get-rich-quick’ schemes go it’s probably not that reliable, but it’s nice to know that some people really value the things we do  . . .

500 words about 40 things

November 19, 2009 Leave a comment

As part of the Thinking About Making unit on the BA Modelmaking course, first year students have been set the task of opening a blog, and posting roughly 500 words about a randomly selected object or building assigned to them.

The 500 words are supposed to answer the question:

“Does your object fall into a particular category of making practice, eg: art, craft, or design?”

In lectures and seminars for this unit, we have been discussing the differences between these different categories and how they came about.

Notes and resources for some of these lectures and seminars are available on-line at:

Links to the student’s blogs are provided in the blogroll to the right. If there are less than 40 things listed, that’s because some people need to hurry up! 🙂

Answering this question will be the first step towards writing the essay assignment for this unit.
